Description of work

Senior Watch Officer & Report Writer 

IT is seeking a Senior Watch Officer and Report Writer to join our team currently providing continuous monitoring of the status of the National Transportation System, reporting on incidents, accidents, and threats to the system’s integrity, and evaluating the potential impacts these events may have on the transportation infrastructure. 

 

Tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform supervisory personnel management responsibilities; take command and control of teams/operations center. 
  • Coordinate classified meetings; organize and facilitate video teleconferencing; and plan conference scheduling and audio-visual support to the Department. 
  • Research and interpret intelligence; convert raw intelligence into situational awareness emails disseminated throughout department to include Senior Leadership. 
  • Provide verbal and written briefings to DOT leadership and executives. 
  • Input all administrative and operational information into an electronic database. 
  • Review and create Daily Situational Awareness Report disseminated throughout department to include Senior Leadership; ensure there are no discrepancies. 
  • Draft Alert Orders, Activation Orders, Executive Summaries, and Deactivation Orders for major incidents effecting all modes of transportation; report and coordinate the Department’s response and recovery efforts during response and recovery operations; act as Operations Center liaison for Emergency Coordinators. 
  • Provides reporting on threats and hazardous events that have the potential to or are impacting the safety and security of the Nation’s transportation sector. 

 

Location: Secure operations center environment in the Washington, DC area.  

 

Required Skills:  

The Senior Watch Officer and Report Writer must have previous Watch Officer experience, the ability to work as a part of a team, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and ability to work under pressure and complete task within given deadlines.  

Required Security Clearance:  

A Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance is required. 

Required Experience:  

A total of at least 8-10 years of relevant work experience.  

Required Education:  

An Associates, Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required.
